BASIC LEVEL WINNERS

: FIRST PLACE 8.0 Good exposure and detail. Colors could be more vibrant, especially in the greens. Composition is good in general, but needs a slight rotation to the right so that the top falls are level.

: SECOND PLACE 7.5 Good detail and composition. Exposure is a bit inconsistent.

: 6.0 Good detail. Composition weakens your subject by having too much open space above. When shooting wildlife, work on shooting from an angle parallel to your subject or slightly below.

ADVANCED LEVEL WINNERS

: FIRST PLACE 8.5 Excellent moody landscape. Colors, detail, and composition are all great. Give off a sense of peace.

: SECOND PLACE 8.0 Good selection for monochrome. Detail is somewhat soft, but makes for an antique format. Good story and composition.

: THIRD PLACE 7.8 Lovely warm colors and good composition. Foreground elements are a bit distracting but do establish a sense of depth to the image.

: HM 5.9 This image has a great story and brings a smile. Exposure is unbalanced and the focus is soft.

: 7.5 The sky is well captured and has good exposure and details. Would suggest cropping out the bottom 25%, which is more of a distraction then an effective part of the story of this image.

: 7.5 Good exposure and composition. The reflected details prove more distracting than helpful to the image.

: 7.0 Good exposure, detail and composition. Santa and the woman next to him are focused elsewhere, which makes for a disconnect. Suggest shooting from straight on or attract everyone’s attention before capture.

: 6.0 Good exposure, detail and tonal range. Angle of the shot introduces many distracting elements, which could be remedied by cropping closer upon the band.

: 5.0 Rather than an eclipse, this image suggests more of a crescent moon. Sharp edges and good composition.

MASTERS LEVEL WINNERS

: FIRST PLACE 9.0 This image has a lot of wow factor. There’s enough detail to tell a story, well enough softness to increase the artistic sense.

: SECOND PLACE 8.5 Wonderful story captured here. The intensity of the blacksmith’s expression is the star of the image. Well done.

: THIRD PLACE 8.0 Amazing detail and exposure. Fascinating landscape and the moving person gives life to what would otherwise seem too otherworldly.

: HM 8.0 This image brings a smile. The angle of the lavender being slightly to the right gives a sense of motion and the delightful expression on the girl’s face tells a story of fun.

: 8.0 Good exposure and detail. Composition could be improved by cropping some from the bottom and right.

: 8.0 Nice capture of this antique photographer’s studio. Great detail, exposure and composition.

: 8.0 Nice landscape. The angle of the foreground trees give a sense of the image leaning, which is somewhat distracting.

: 7.5 Good exposure and detail. Cropping to place the old windmill off center would make for a stronger composition

: 7.5 Good detail here. Exposure is inconsistent and the image is leaning to the right.

: 7.0 Tells a good story. Focus is a little soft and the image leans to the left slightly.

: 6.5 Well composed with good color range. Focus is somewhat soft and there’s a fair amount of noise present.

: 6.0 Good exposure and composition. Focus is soft and there are dust spots and noise muddying up the image.

: 6.0 Good color and story. The focus is a bit soft and the composition would be stronger if the image is rotated 90 degrees clockwise.

: 6.0 Interesting landscape chosen. There’s a lot of noise here that takes away from the impact of the scene.

: 5.0 Good story and composotion. Focus is too soft.

: 5.0 Certainly a lucky capture, though it appears it was originally a small portion cropped out of a larger capture, resulting in it being somewhat pixelated.

: 5.0 The focus of the image is too small in the frame, overwhelmed by the background. It also seems to be leaning to the right, though the tree is leaning to the left.
